Piero Ferrari’s Daytona SP3 spec is a tribute to his father’s legacy
Piero Ferrari, son of automotive legend Enzo Ferrari, recently took delivery of his Daytona SP3. The supercar is finished in a unique blue and white livery, a spec designed as a tribute to his father’s legacy. In a video shared by Ferrari, Piero talks about the inspiration behind the spec.
The year was 1965, and Ferrari had just won the F1 World Championship with John Surtees. The championship-winning car had a blue and white livery instead of the usual red. These were the colors of the famous North American Racing Team (NART). The same livery also appeared on the one-off Ferrari 250 LM. It was not a racing car but was created specifically for a motor show by Pininfarina.
Piero Ferrari’s Daytona SP3 has a white exterior with a metallic finish and a blue stripe running down the centre. The interior features red upholstery similar to the one-off 250 LM. It is powered by a mid-mounted 6.5-liter V12 engine, producing 850 hp and comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Current Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc also owns one. More recently, Ferrari gifted one of these special machines to Carlos Sainz as well.
