The future of the Lamborghini Urus is now a lot clearer. Despite the industry’s rapid shift toward full electrification, Lamborghini has confirmed the next-generation Urus will stick with combustion power, backed by hybrid tech rather than going fully electric.
According to Urus product line director Stefano Cossalter, the super-SUV will carry forward with a V8 plug-in hybrid setup.
“In any case, the next-generation Urus will not be an electric car. We’re going to follow the industry, and we’re going to still go for a V8 hybrid. I like the daily usability with so much torque,” said Cossalter.
The same core engine architecture is already shared across the Volkswagen Group, underpinning models like the Audi RS Q8, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and Bentley Bentayga—though Lamborghini, as always, gives it its own sharper edge.
The latest evolution of that setup can be seen in the Urus SE Performante. It uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 800 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough for a 0–62 mph sprint in just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 194 mph.
