Michael Jordan’s former Ferrari 550 Maranello has just set a new public-auction record for the model, selling for an impressive $2.7 million.
The car was offered by Joopiter and attracted 43 bids during two weeks of online bidding. The final figure was well beyond expectations, comfortably beating the auction house’s $800,000 to $1.3 million estimate and more than quadrupling the previous record for a 550 Maranello.

What makes this Ferrari particularly special is its history. Ferrari delivered the car new to Jordan in May 1997, during the final stretch of his championship-winning years with the Chicago Bulls. That connection clearly made the car more appealing for collectors.
The 550 Maranello itself is finished in classic Rosso Barchetta over a tan leather interior. It also retains its Illinois registration plate, “MJ 5”, further confirming its connection to the basketball legend.
