Mercedes-Benz has opened order books for the 2027 G 580 Electric in the US, and the electric G-Class is getting a modest price increase along with some useful updates.
The SUV now starts at $163,750 before destination charges, bringing the drive-away figure to $165,200 after the $1,450 fee. That is $650 more than the previous model year.
The bigger changes are underneath. Mercedes has replaced the previous single charging port with two separate connectors, helping reduce DC fast-charging time: 10-to-80% now takes 29 minutes, instead of 32 minutes on the previous model. The 2027 model also benefits from a longer EPA-rated driving range (71 MPGe, up from 62 MPGe), making the boxy electric G-Class a little easier to live with.
The powertrain, however, remains unchanged. Four electric motors produce a combined 579 hp and 858 lb-ft of torque, with each motor driving one wheel. Mercedes claims 0–60 mph in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 112 mph.
So, while the G 580 Electric costs slightly more for 2027, it brings meaningful improvements without changing the hardware.
