McLaren plans to reveal something interesting on February 27. The automaker just put out a teaser image on its social media handles, which left us scratching our heads. What could it be?
Having looked at the teaser closely for the last hour or so, we suspect it could be the Artura Spider. Our guess is based on a few lines that match those on the coupe. One of them is the S-shaped panel gap that separates the bodywork and the glass. We believe that what we’re looking at, is the rear quarter glass and a portion of the buttress.
The McLaren Artura debuted in 2021 as the brand’s first series production hybrid model. It is based on the new McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA).
The Artura is powered by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine that churns out 577 hp and 431 lb-ft of torque. It is coupled with an electric motor that delivers an additional 97 hp for a combined output of 671 hp and 531 lb-ft. It is powered by a 7.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers a maximum range of 19 miles in pure electric mode. The car comes with a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Artura Spider is expected to use the same hybrid powertrain. It could offer similar performance as the coupe.
