McLaren SLR HDK by MSO teased; to be unveiled on June 19
Thomas Reinhold, McLaren Heritage Manager, has shared a teaser of the upcoming McLaren SLR HDK by MSO. He has also confirmed that the car will be revealed on June 19, 2022.
In the latest teaser, you can see the car’s side-mounted exhaust. You can also hear the raw growl of that supercharged V8 engine.
The McLaren SLR HDK is a special project by the MSO division. Here ‘HDK’ stands for ‘high downforce kit’, and it clearly suggests that this will be a track-oriented version of the iconic Mercedes SLR McLaren. It is likely to get a wide body kit with a large rear spoiler, an aggressive front splitter and rear diffuser. The side-mounted twin exhausts have been replaced with single pipes.
The SLR HDK is said to be inspired by the 2007 SLR McLaren 722 GT, which was developed for a one-make series called the SLR Club. That being said, the HDK might be a road-legal version of the track car.
The SLR 722 GT race car was powered by a 5.5-liter supercharged V8 that pumped out 680 hp. The engine was mated to a 5-speed transmission that sent power to the rear axle.
