The McLaren MCL-HY Le Mans hypercar was revealed last month. It is the brand’s new track tool that will compete at the 2027 World Endurance Championship. And to ensure it’s up and ready, track testing of the machine has begun.

The car was recently spotted at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola. It was a private test day organised by McLaren. The MCL-HY was captured on camera doing multiple laps of the track, giving us a listen to its twin-turbo 2.9 V6 hybrid engine’s exhaust note via many fly-bys. Reportedly, multiple drivers took turns to go around the circuit in the new hypercar.

Considering it broke cover only last month, the McLaren MCL-HY, running on a Dallara chassis, proved to be quite impressive on its first-ever track testing. It would certainly be a sight to watch it debut in the 2027 World Endurance Championship.

McLaren also built a GTR version of the MCL-HY that will reach select “VIP McLaren clients” by the end of next year. Instead of a hybrid system, it has a raw, twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 that pushes out around 720 bhp.
