McLaren 720S could be the next 650S Replacement

A replacement for the McLaren 650S is currently under development. Spy shots of the upcoming supercar, codenamed P14 have already surfaced over the internet and now there are rumors that it could be called McLaren 720S.

If the rumors are true, then the McLaren 720S will be launched at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. According to Autogespot, the new 720S will pack a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine as opposed to the 3.8-liter unit that powers the current range of McLaren supercars.

The name ‘720S’ also means that the engine will produce 720 hp- that’s a lot considering its main rival, the Ferrari 488 has 660 hp from a turbocharged V8. Clearly, McLaren is set to win the horsepowers wars with their Italian rivals. However, it will be interesting to see how the Ferrari 488 Speciale turns out.

Autogespot has also learned that the McLaren 720S will have a unique feature which will allow the dashboard of the car to be lowered in track mode. It is designed to give the driver a better view of the track ahead. It sounds a bit far fetched but we never know what McLaren will come up with.
