Lotus Evija X track-focused electric hypercar in the works

Lotus is working on a track-focused version of the Evija electric hypercar. It’s called the Evija X, and according to the company, the ultimate expression of the EV is based on an all-new technology concept.

The Evija X electric hypercar was recently spotted at the Nurburgring. This led to rumors about Lotus gunning for an EV lap record. However, the company was quick to point out that the Evija X prototype has been tested at multiple racetracks across several countries in the last weeks.

The Evija X appears to be a track-only machine. It features a high downforce aero package with a massive spoiler at the back and a large splitter up front. The car also makes use of an S-duct, and the extended floor section suggests that some downforce could be generated through the ‘ground effect’.

Overall, the Evija X looks like a serious piece of kit built to go around a racetrack in the least time possible. It could be powered by the same 4-motor electric powertrain as the standard car. This setup generates 2011 hp and 1257 lb-ft of torque. The standard Evija can reach 62 mph in under 3 seconds and has a top speed of 217 mph.
