Lewis Hamilton has finally added a Ferrari F40 to his garage, bringing home one of the most iconic supercars ever built.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion shared photos on Instagram showing his car undergoing an extensive restoration at Ferrari’s factory in Maranello. The work appears to have been far more than a simple cosmetic refresh, with the F40 receiving a comprehensive recommissioning that included removing the engine.

According to reports, the car had spent more than 30 years sitting in a garage before Hamilton acquired it. The photos show the car in various stages of its restoration, before returning to pristine condition at Maranello.

Hamilton’s Ferrari is one of just over 1,300 F40s produced, making it a significant addition to any collection. It is also particularly special in Ferrari history, as the F40 was the final production model personally approved by company founder Enzo Ferrari.
