Ferrari introduced the 12Cilindri Manuale with a “manual” gearbox, but don’t expect Lamborghini to follow its Italian rival down the same road.
Product line director Paolo Racchetti acknowledged that there will always be customers asking for a manual gearbox and other features rooted in the brand’s past. For now, however, Lamborghini is looking firmly ahead.
According to Racchetti, the company’s priority is to further develop its new generation of hybrid supercars rather than revisit older technologies.
“Lamborghini is defined by always evolving and thinking about the future,” he said, adding that the brand believes there is still more performance and emotion to extract from its latest architecture.
That philosophy is already evident in the Temerario, which combines a twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
So, while enthusiasts may continue asking for three pedals, a modern manual Lamborghini doesn’t appear to be on the cards anytime soon.
