Koenigsegg Will Let Customers Drive The Regera in November

The Koenigsegg Regera started development in 2014 and was first revealed to the public a year later at Geneva Motor Show. Soon after, all the 80 units of the hybrid hypercar were sold out. But, more than 3 years in, most of the customers have still not received their cars or have even gotten to drive one. That will change this November as Koenigsegg will offer its eagerly awaiting customers the chance to drive a pre-production prototype for the Regera.

The test drives will probably take place at Koenigsegg’s own test-track at its Angelholm factory. Since, the Regera is designed as a luxury hypercar, chances are Koenigsegg might even offer drives on public roads around Angelholm.

It seems like customers will finally get to experience the unique direct drive powertrain of the Regera which combines Koenigsegg’s twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors to produce 1500 hp. That power will allow the Regera to go from 0-100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and from 0-400 km/h in 20 seconds! Well, we can’t wait to see their reactions.

Koenigsegg has delivered just two Regeras till date, one of which resides in @Dan_am_i‘s garage in the US and the other being the green Regera Malin. Dan’s Regera was recently featured on Jay Leno’s Garage, while the Malin debuted at the 2018 Ghost Squadron Event. According to the car maker, 4 more cars are ready and are currently undergoing pre-delivery testing at Angelholm, while 20 are currently on the production line. Deliveries will finally start early next year.

It’s good news not only for customers but for us enthusiasts too who would be treated with loads of footage of the car and possibly driving impressions from major automotive media.
