James May is parting ways with a rather special piece of television history. The 1974 Triumph Stag he drove in The Grand Tour’s finale, One for the Road, has gone up for sale through Collecting Cars, with bidding scheduled to close on October 29.

This isn’t a replica or a stand-in. It is the actual Stag featured in the final special starring May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond. May owned the car for around three years before deciding to let it go.

Finished in Magenta over a black vinyl interior, the MkII Stag has returned to near-standard specification after filming. Production-related modifications were removed, although an earlier MkI speedometer remains fitted.

Under the bonnet sits the original-specification 3.0-litre Triumph V8, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox and driving the rear wheels. There’s no automatic transmission here.

The odometer currently reads 83,368 miles, although the seller doesn’t guarantee the mileage. The last recorded service was carried out in July 2025 at an indicated 83,100 miles.
