Hobbs and Shaw gets new Official Title and the Stars Assemble in Instagram Pic

The latest Hoobs and Shaw promotional still shared by The Rock on Instgram has him striking a pose with co-stars Jason Statham and Idris Elba. The Fast and Furious spin-off is coming in August.

Most of us would like to see the Fast and Furious spin-off starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba, more than Fast and Furious 9. Hobbs and Shaw is currently in production with Deadpool 2-John Wick director David Leitch handling directorial duties.

The Rock, who is also serving a producer for the Universal Pictures movie, took to Instagram recently to share a promotional still featuring the leading men from both sides. Jason Statham, The Rock, and Idris Elba strike a pose in the foreground while a bunch of badass SUVs occupy the background. (Is it just me or does Elba’s suit look like it was borrowed from the costume department of X-Men: The Last Stand?)

Jason Statham and The Rock reprise their roles as Deckard Shaw and Luke Hobbs from the main saga. Idris Elba will be seen in the role of the chief baddie – Brixton. As The Rock and Statham have emphasized before through their social media profiles, the antagonist is being touted as the most fearsome one in the series. Vanessa Kirby from Mission: Impossible – Fallout is joining the team as Shaw’s sister. No cameos from the main saga actors have been announced yet.

The spin-off has also been bestowed with a longer official title – Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. That’s quite a mouthful if you ask us. However, the new title will help in establishing the movie as a part of the larger Fast and Furious universe – a connection which the buddy cop action movie will need in the international markets where F&F has immense brand value and recognition.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw hits theaters on August 2, 2019.
