Who is surprised to see the Ford Mustang becoming the most popular car on Instagram, towering over its competition with panache? We aren’t.
The Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic cars ever built and in a recent study conducted by Veygo, the muscle car emerged as the most popular one on Instagram. The Mustang came in first with a total of 11,947,872 posts on the social media platform with the hashtags #fordmustang and #mustang contributing to that massive tally.
The Honda Civic turned out to be the second most Instagrammed car. With the hot hatch Type R version being quite trendy among the millennials who form the major share of Instagram users, it was bound to happen. It garnered 7,402,365 posts through #hondacivic and #civic hashtags. The Honda Civic Type R was treated as a separate entry and it managed to fetch a decent number of 1,834,422 posts, clinching the 18th rank. The Nissan GT-R drove into the third spot with 7,019,123 posts, coming from the tags $#nissangtr and #gtr.
The Top 10 was wrapped up by the BMW M3, Jeep Wrangler, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Corvette, BMW M4, Lamborghini Aventador, and the Audi R8. Other noteworthy entries on the list include the BMW M5, Subaru Impreza, Chevrolet Silverado, Lamborghini Huracan, Mini Cooper, Porsche Carrera, Porsche 911, Mazda MX-5, BMW M2, and BMW i8.
Veygo’s methodology took into account the cars which are currently in production and picked the sum of posts which feature two of the most popular hashtags associated with each vehicle.
