Ford has reopened applications for the Mustang GTD in Europe, giving buyers just over a month to try and secure one of the company’s most extreme road cars. The order books opened on September 14 and will remain open until October 16.
Production for Europe is limited to 500 cars, and the estimated starting price is over €300,000, equivalent to roughly US$344,098. That figure is before options, making the Ford Mustang GTD a seriously expensive proposition.
One of the highlights this time is the new Spirit of America livery. It combines Performance White paint with Race Red and Lightning Blue stripes across the bonnet and side skirts, reinterpreting Mustang’s familiar tri-bar theme. Buyers can also use Ford’s Extended Color Palette to make their chosen colour unique.
Underneath, the GTD packs a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 producing 815 hp. Ford positions it above the entire Ford Racing range, with much of its engineering development focused on the Nurburgring. The GTD had beaten the Corvette ZR1X’s Nurburgring lap time by 9 seconds.
