Ford Mustang GTD continues testing at the Nurburgring
The Ford Mustang GTD has been spotted doing high-speed laps of the Nurburgring once again. It currently holds the record of 6 min 57.685 seconds, making it the fastest American car to lap the Nordschleife. Is Ford aiming to improve it further?
The Mustang GTD is powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 that delivers 815 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful Mustang ever made. The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Mustang GTD gets a semi-active suspension, with a pushrod setup at the front and a transaxle at the back. The air scoops on the sides are there to cool the transaxle and hydraulics. It also gets a bespoke aero package, including hydraulically controlled front flaps and an active rear spoiler.
