It has been almost 2 years since Ferrari unveiled its latest flagship hypercar, the F80, and still there has been no announcement of the F80 Aperta. However, reports suggest that the open-top version could arrive by the end of this year.

A camouflaged prototype of what is believed to be the F80 Aperta was recently spotted testing in Maranello. Instead of a folding hard top, Ferrari is said to have opted for a lightweight fabric roof.

The rest of the design looks unchanged, with the F80 Aperta featuring a flat, squared-off front fascia with rectangular headlamps, a retractable rear spoiler and a central exhaust.

The F80 Aperta will be powered by the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 hybrid as the coupe. The internal combustion engine is paired with an electric front axle and an F1-derived MGU-K, for a combined output of 1200 hp.

Ferrari is building 799 F80 coupes. The upcoming F80 Aperta is expected to be more exclusive.
