Having introduced the 296 Speciale, Ferrari is now working on yet another track-focused version of its V6 hybrid supercar. Looking at the spy images, it appears to be a road-legal version of the 296 Challenge race car. It could be called the 296 Challenge Stradale, and from what we’ve heard, it is likely to debut in November this year.

Sources have told us that the 296 Challenge Stradale won’t be a limited-edition model with a production cap, just like the Speciale.

The biggest difference between the Speciale and the upcoming 296 CS will be in its engine. While the Speciale uses a twin-turbo V6 hybrid with upgraded internals, the latter is expected to get a non-electrified version. The retuned twin-turbo V6 without hybrid assistance is said to deliver around 720 hp. The car’s estimated to weigh about 1300 kg dry.

The 296 CS might also feature a more extreme exterior design, more akin to the Challenge race car. Recent prototypes have revealed details such as a swan-neck rear wing with large end plates, a rear diffuser, mesh-type fascia with dual centre exhausts, low side skirts and a prominent front splitter.
