Exclusive! Pre-production Red Bull RB17 Hypercar leaked
It’s been almost a year since the Red Bull RB17 hypercar broke cover at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. For the past 12 months, Adrian Newey and his team of aerodynamicists and designers have been finalizing the exterior surfaces of the car. We can now share what is said to be the first rendering of the pre-production version.
In its current form, the RB17 looks almost identical to the concept car from last year. Barring minor tweaks such as the LED headlights, which now have an L-shaped design, the rest of the front end looks as extreme as Newey’s original creation. It has a large double splitter with a central spine and curled edges, massive venturi tunnels and gaping holes in the front clamshell exposing the inboard front suspension.
The Red Bull RB17 is powered by a Cosworth-built 4.5-liter V10 engine that revs to 15,000 rpm and delivers 986 hp. Additionally, a 197 hp electric motor takes over at low speeds and assists the engine with torque-fill.
The pre-production version of the Red Bull RB17 is likely to be showcased at Goodwood this year.
