“I hope they remove the Prancing Horse”, Ex-Ferrari boss on Luce EV

Ferrari stepping into the electric era was always going to spark debate. But the reaction to the Ferrari Luce has been louder and harsher than expected.

At the centre of it all is Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, a man who helped shape modern Ferrari. Speaking at the car’s reveal in Rome, he didn’t hold back. “If I said what I really think, I’d harm Ferrari,” he admitted. That alone said plenty. But he went further, warning that the brand risks “destroying a myth” with its current direction.

And then came the line that’s now echoing across the automotive world. Looking at the silent, 1,035 hp Ferrari Luce EV, Montezemolo said he hopes that the iconic and legendary Italian brand would “at least remove the Prancing Horse” from it.

Strong words. Especially from someone who led Ferrari through one of its most dominant eras, both on the road and in Formula 1.

The backlash isn’t limited to enthusiasts or former insiders. The market has reacted too. Following the Luce’s reveal, reports tell us that Ferrari’s shares took a noticeable hit, dropping sharply in Milan and the US.

This isn’t just about one car. It’s about identity. Ferrari without sound, drama, and combustion? For many, that’s a tough pill to swallow.
