Audi has something exciting in store for us at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend. According to reports, Audi will unveil a new hybrid sports car concept on the sidelines of the Formula 1 race.

It is said that the new Audi sports car uses a V8 hybrid powertrain. It is derived from the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 hybrid of the Lamborghini Temerario. A high-revving engine with over 900 hp is ideal for a supercar – perfect for the next-gen Audi R8.

A recent teaser shared by the carmaker on social media talks about Tazio Nuvolari, an Italian racing driver who competed in Formula 1 in the 1930s. He won his last grand prix in 1939 in an Auto Union car (Audi’s predecessor).

We think that Audi might preview an exciting new model in the form of a concept car. Enthusiasts would love to see the ‘R8’ brand revived in the form of a brand-new mid-engined V8 hybrid supercar.

Earlier, Audi CEO Gernot Dollner had stated that the idea of a flagship supercar wasn’t dead, clearly hinting at a possible revival of the R8.
