Aston Martin is working on a hot version of its Vantage sports car. Like its predecessor, the new model is said to be powered by a meaty V12 as well.
You may have seen images of a modified Vantage lapping the Nurburgring recently. Now, here’s a video of the car. We think the engine sounds pretty muted. But it could also be because of the other cars. Let us know what you think of that exhaust note.
According to reports, the Vantage V12 RS could use the same engine that powers the V12 Speedster. It’s a 5.2-liter, twin-turbo motor that develops 700 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque. It comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
With that sort of performance, the Vantage V12 RS could lock horns with the mighty Porsche 911 Turbo S.
To recap, the 911 Turbo S packs a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo flat-6 engine that produces 640 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. However, its all-wheel-drive system will certainly give it an advantage over the rear-wheel-drive Aston.
