A 1994 Bugatti EB110 GT has just been sold at an auction for a record price of $3.8 million. While this legendary Bugatti supercar has been steadily increasing in value for the last few years, this one was a particularly rare example.
This EB110 GT is chassis no. 39012, known as “C13”, which means it’s a second-generation model based on a carbon fibre chassis. It’s one of just 15 factory prototypes built and was displayed at the 1992 Bologna Motor Show.

The car was acquired by Jochen Duaer’s Dauer Racing after the carmaker went bankrupt. It is finished in Bugatti Blu but was originally painted in Verde Scuro. It has a light gray leather interior and comes with 18-inch magnesium wheels and several Dauer-specific add-ons.
Powering the EB110 GT is a 3.5-liter quad-turbocharged V12 engine that delivers 550 hp and 451 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and has permanent all-wheel drive.

This example was never built to be a test mule; instead, it was used as a show car. This explains why it has run merely 712 miles in over 3 decades.
Looking at the kind of cars that are being introduced lately, collectors and enthusiasts are getting more inclined towards modern classics like the Bugatti EB110, and that includes Formula 1 World Champions like Fernando Alonso, who was recently spotted driving a stunning burgundy example in Monaco.
