Koenigsegg has recalled every CC850 sold in the US for the 2025 and 2026 model years, with just seven cars affected. For a machine this rare, even a small software issue becomes big news.

According to the NHTSA, the recall concerns the CC850’s electronic parking brake, which can fail to engage properly under certain conditions. The issue came to light after an owner selected reverse with the engine running, applied the parking brake and stepped out. The car then rolled away.

Koenigsegg’s solution is fairly straightforward. The company will update the parking brake control software through an over-the-air update, free of charge. Owners can also have the update installed by a dealer.

It is an unusual recall for an even more unusual hypercar, although the circumstances raise an obvious question: was the system at fault, or was there some element of user error?

Either way, the Koenigsegg CC850 remains an extraordinary machine. It uses Jesko’s 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 1,185 hp on regular fuel and up to 1,385 hp on E85. With only seven US examples affected, this is certainly a rare recall.
