Bugatti could be thinking about something rather unexpected for its next hypercar. Mate Rimac has hinted at the possibility of a lighter, simpler version of the V16-powered Tourbillon, potentially with a proper manual gearbox.
Speaking about Bugatti’s future, Rimac said the Tourbillon is a platform rather than a one-off model and suggested that independence gives the company greater freedom to explore bold ideas. “Now with the freedom, having the company independent from any car manufacturer, we can really think long-term and do bold things. And we will do lots of cool stuff.”

When asked about a manual transmission, his answer was simple: “Absolutely. You bet.”
The idea would represent a major shift in Bugatti’s philosophy. The Tourbillon already delivers enormous performance, but Rimac believes there could be room for something lighter and more engaging, rather than simply chasing ever greater power.
For now, though, none of this is confirmed. Rimac is discussing possibilities rather than announcing a production model, so enthusiasts shouldn’t expect to see a manual Tourbillon just yet.
