Porsche has been developing an all-electric Boxster for a while. Until now, we’ve seen prototypes of the 718 Boxster EV being tested in Germany. It seems the next phase of testing has now begun, as the upcoming electric sports car was recently spotted in the United States.
The 2027 Porsche 718 Boxster EV was sporting minimal camouflage, with plastic panels covering only parts of the front and rear fascias, and had black aero wheels.
Porsche has been pretty tight-lipped about the technical details of the electric 718. However, it is likely to be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, supporting single- and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations.
Last month, new Porsche CEO Michael Leiters confirmed that the electric 718 Boxster and Cayman were slightly delayed, but he also sounded very enthusiastic about them.
With the electric 718, we came to the conclusion that we will build the model – because it is the best solution economically and will be a fantastic car,” Leiters said.
