Lando Norris has been spotted getting behind the wheel of the McLaren MCL HY Le Mans Hypercar, and a new social media video gives us a great listen to the race car in action.
The video begins with the defending F1 world champion putting on his helmet before climbing into the MCL HY. Getting into a Le Mans prototype is clearly not the easiest task, but Norris eventually gets strapped in and heads out of the pits.

Interestingly, the hypercar initially leaves the pitlane in electric-only mode. There is no roar from the engine, just the distinctive whine of the electric wizardry. Things change dramatically once Norris fires up the combustion engine in the pitlane.
The twin-turbo V6 comes alive with a proper race-car soundtrack as the MCL HY heads onto the circuit. Norris then blasts past the camera on the main straight, with the exhaust note making it clear this is built for serious competition.
Finished in McLaren’s familiar papaya orange, the MCL HY looks every bit like a proper race car. It uses a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 paired with a hybrid system.
This isn’t Norris’ first outing in the car, either. He was previously spotted driving the MCL HY at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
