As Ferrari continues testing its upcoming hardcore 12Cilindri, there have been rumours suggesting that it might get a manual transmission.
The 12Cilindri VS (Versione Speciale) will be powered by the same naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine as the standard version, albeit with a slightly higher peak output. The current version delivers 819 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. So we can expect the upgrades to boost the engine output to around 850 hp.

The small step up in performance won’t be the highlight of the 12Cilindri VS, though. Ferrari might borrow the three-pedal simulated manual gearbox from the 12Cilindri Manuale, which should make the new hardcore version an exciting proposition.
That being said, the newly developed transmission isn’t a true manual. It uses the same 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which can now be operated via a 6-speed gated manual and a clutch pedal. The driver’s inputs are converted into digital signals that operate the transmission.
