Genesis is thinking bigger! Its relatively new Magma sub-brand could be the beginning of something far more serious than just a sporty trim line.
Justin Douglass, head of Genesis Motors Australia, hinted at the brand’s growing ambitions. Genesis, he says, is “always evolving”. When asked about Magma possibly competing with Mercedes-AMG Black Series models, he said, when it comes to Magma’s future, “the possibilities are endless.”

There’s no official confirmation yet, but the idea isn’t being dismissed either. Tim Rodgers, Genesis Australia’s product development manager, responded with a simple “Why not?” on the same topic. It’s not a promise—but it’s certainly not a no.
Right now, Magma is still in its early days. The only production model available in the US is the GV60 Magma, an electric performance SUV. More models are already in the pipeline.

Looking ahead, Genesis plans to launch 22 new models by 2030, spanning different powertrains and segments. If Magma continues to evolve alongside that expansion, it could eventually grow into a genuine performance division—one capable of challenging the very best.
