Toyota is reviving one of its iconic sports car brands, the MR2. The car is already under development, and an initial prototype was recently spotted testing at the Fuji Speedway in Japan.
This Frankenstein prototype is actually hiding the next-generation Toyota MR2. On the outside, it looks like a mishmash of parts from the LC500 and GR Yaris. The test car has a deep, throaty exhaust note, clearly hinting at a powerful turbocharged engine.

We already know that the new MR2 will be mid-engined and feature all-wheel drive. It could be powered by the new G20E turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, rumoured to produce over 400 hp. It is expected to be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
