Last month, BMW unveiled the M Concept Neue Klasse. It’s not merely a design study but gives us a glimpse of the next-gen M3 and its electric counterpart.
Since the new electric version will be sold alongside the ICE-powered M3, it was speculated that the former could be called iM3. However, BMW has now confirmed that the electric M3 will simply be called M3.

During an interaction with the media on the sidelines of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, BMW M boss Frank van Meel stated that the electric version would use the historic M3 badge.
The electric BMW M3 will be based on an 800V electric architecture and will feature a quad-motor setup capable of generating 1341 hp. The production version, though, is likely to be restricted to a lower output.

The upcoming M3 electric will sport a distinct Neue Klasse design, featuring a slim kidney grille with integrated LED headlights and claw-shaped DRLs, and M-specific bumpers, bonnet, mirrors and wheels.
Inside, you will find bucket seats wrapped in two-tone upholstery, a new M steering wheel with paddle shifters and a central touchscreen.
