McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris wasn’t just present at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026. The reigning F1 world champion took the McLaren MCL-HY for a spin at the hill climb circuit.

McLaren Hypercar Team posted a video on social media showing us the driver’s POV of Lando’s run in the MCL-HY. It’s the brand’s latest build that’s gonna compete at the 2027 World Endurance Championship.

It is powered by a 2.9L twin-turbo V6 engine with a hybrid setup. We can see in the clip that Lando gets going in electric mode. There’s the typical EV whining noise, which can be clearly heard in the footage.

A few seconds later, the car’s ICE kicks in, which is also very much prominent in the video thanks to the loud sound and exhaust note. Norris continues to drive the circuit and keeps pushing the McLaren MCL-HY whenever he gets the chance.

In other news, McLaren has recently revealed the 788HS (High Sport). Available in both Coupe and Spider trims, this is the final, most extreme evolution of a bloodline that began with the iconic McLaren 720S and matured through the 765LT and 750S.
