It seems that the Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing is becoming one of the most collectable modern AMGs ever built. Three early-production models of the sports car have just been auctioned in the US for a collective sum of nearly a million dollars.
The first one is a 2011 model finished in AMG Alubeam Silver over Designo Classic Red and Black leather. It has optional extended carbon-fibre interior trim, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and 19″ and 20″ forged wheels. With only 3500 miles on the odo, this has been sold for $350,000.
The second of the lot is a 4800-mile run, 2012 Mercedes SLS AMG. It is finished in Designo Mystic White II over Designo Classic Red leather, and it was factory optioned with carbon-fibre exterior and interior trim. Some of its other features include gullwing doors with pop-out handles, bi-xenon headlamps, power-adjustable AMG sport seats, and optional extended carbon-fibre interior trim. This model has been auctioned for $312,222.
The last car here is again a 2011 model. It features an Iridium Silver Metallic exterior paint, Designo Light Brown leather trims the heated power-adjustable AMG Sport seats, a black Dinamica headliner, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, aluminium trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It has covered 12,000 miles and was sold for $295,000.
These three cars have been sold to different customers. And their total auctioned amount comes to be $957,222. The Mercedes SLS AMG is powered by a hand-assembled 6.2L V8 engine that makes 563 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle and a limited-slip differential.
