Authorities in Virginia Beach have arrested 20-year-old Kyle Matthews after he was caught doing donuts in a Ford Mustang at the Oceanfront. The latest incident took place on May 10 near 40th Street and Atlantic Avenue.
According to police, the responding officer identified the Mustang as a vehicle already linked to two ongoing investigations from March 22 and April 25. Both prior incidents had been captured on surveillance footage, showing similar driving behaviour.
A traffic stop was conducted at the scene, leading to Matthews’ arrest. Further investigation allowed officers to connect the dots and formally close the earlier cases, with additional warrants issued accordingly. He now faces three counts of racing/exhibition driving, along with three counts of destruction of city property.
Powerful cars like the Ford Mustang are built to entertain, but on the street, moments like these can spiral into something far more serious. Performance driving does have its place, if done responsibly. In public places, though, the consequences are inevitable.
