Russians build a Maybach 6 Cabriolet because Mercedes won’t

In 2017, Mercedes-Benz showcased a swanky concept called the Vision Maybach 6 Cabriolet at Pebble Beach. It was a 19-foot-long luxury convertible, which, according to the company, was purely a design study. The Russians, however, have decided to bring Mercedes’ vision into reality.

Since Mercedes had no plans to build the Maybach 6 Cabriolet, a set of talented individuals, presumably fueled by vodka, decided to create a replica. As you can see, their hard work has most certainly paid off, as the result is simply astonishing.

This Maybach 6 Cabriolet replica is based on an R230 SL500. It has a massive chrome grille with slim LED headlamps, just like the concept. The rear, although not exactly similar, does have a continuous LED light bar. It was probably borrowed from a Porsche. The car is painted in a striking shade of blue, while the interior has been re-trimmed in cream leather.

Unlike the concept, which used a 750 hp electric motor, this SL500-based replica is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine. Earlier iterations of this engine developed 302 hp and 339 lb-ft, while latter versions came with a 383 hp engine.
