We finally have a launch date for the street-legal Audi R8 GT2. ABT Sportsline has just released a teaser on social media confirming that the car will be unveiled on November 23, 2023.
The Audi R8 LMS GT2 is being developed by the Audi Scherer Sport group in collaboration with ABT Sportsline. It’s essentially a race car with a license plate, and as you can see from the spy images captured at the Nurburgring, the car retains most of its racy bits.
The front end of the street-legal R8 GT2 looks as aggressive as a GT3-spec car. It has a massive rear spoiler and a large roof scoop that feeds the engine intake with fresh air. Speaking of which, the teaser image shows the top view of the roof scoop.
The upcoming R8 GT2 road car is expected to be powered by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that could be tuned for more performance. Most of the suspension is also likely to be carried over from the race car but is likely to be tweaked to make it more manageable on public roads.
