One of 2 McLaren F1 ‘LM-Specification’ is Coming up for Auction at Monterey

A McLaren F1 is always a star of any auction and is bound to bring in big money. However, when a McLaren F1 LM Spec comes up for auction, it can get really, really expensive.

In an era of hybrids and all-electric hypercars, the McLaren F1 is still revered as the greatest supercars of all time – the first true hypercar, in fact. McLaren built just 106 units of the F1. Out of theses only 64 cars were street legal. These also include two rather special cars in LM-spec. One of these ultra-rare versions will be sold at the RM Auctions event during the Monterey Car Week on August 15, 2019.

This McLaren F1 was originally painted in Midnight Blue and had a black interior. It was later upgraded to LM-spec and received a 14-inch steering wheel and Platinum Grey exterior with beige interior trim. Exterior updates that set it apart from a standard McLaren F1 include a larger front splitter, louvers on the front fenders and a fixed rear spoiler. Overall, these upgrades are claimed to generate more downforce than McLaren F1 GTR race car.

Majority of upgrades are made under the skin. This McLaren F1 LM gets a GTR-spec naturally aspirated V12 engine which produces 680 hp. The red line has also been increased by 1000 rpm. The car has two additional radiators and a transmission cooler. It also gets a modified exhaust. The car rides on 18-inch GTR wheels and has race-spec dampers and springs.

This McLaren F1 LM-Specification (chassis no. 018) has 13,352 miles on the odometer.
