Bentley has introduced its first electric luxury SUV, the Torcal. It will be available in standard and a more sporting S variant, with up to 375 miles of range.
The Bentley Torcal looks like a typical SUV from the brand headquartered in Crewe, UK. It adopts the same stately design language as the Bentayga, featuring an illuminated rectangular grille, split LED headlights and a long, sculpted hood.
The Torcal has a clean side profile with pull-type door handles and massive wheel arches. In the rear, the car features slim LED taillights with the Bentley badge in the centre.
The interior of the Torcal EV is exactly what you would expect from Bentley. It has a luxurious and well-appointed cabin with a 3-spoke steering wheel, a digital dash and a large central touchscreen.
The Torcal’s fully electric powertrain comprises a pair of permanent magnet synchronous motors, delivering 876 hp and 996 lb-ft of torque, the highest of any Bentley ever made. As a result, 0-60 mph is dispatched in 2.8 seconds. It has a top speed of 162 mph.
Step on the loud pedal and a propulsion sound of the 6.75-litre V8 engine performed by musicians is channelled through the 1,780W, 28-speaker sound system.
The Torcal is based on an 800V electric architecture. It comes with a 113 kWh battery pack, which gives it a range of 375 miles. The battery can be charged from 10-80% in under 20 minutes at 400 kW, which means 100 miles of range can be added in just 7 minutes.
The base variant of the Torcal has 810 hp and 881 lb-ft of torque. It can complete the dash from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds, and reach a top speed of 155 mph.
