Volkswagen to import and sell Bugatti & Rimac hypercars in the US
Volkswagen Group of America will be the official importer and distributor of Bugatti and Rimac hypercars in the United States.
As part of the agreement that was signed during the Monterey Car Week, VW plans to set up a dealer network across the US dedicated to selling high-end models from Bugatti and Rimac.
Bugatti Rimac CEO Mate Rimac said, “For both the Bugatti and Rimac brands, the US is the strongest single market in the world, so it’s important that we curate a sales and ownership experience befitting the extraordinary cars that we’re delivering to customers.”
In 2021, Bugatti, Rimac and Porsche set up a new joint-venture company, Bugatti Rimac, and appointed Mate Rimac, founder and CEO of Rimac Automobili, as its CEO. The latter specializes in electric powertrains and has developed the Nevera – a pure-electric hypercar.
The Rimac has a 24% stake in the JV, while Porsche controls 45% of the company.
