Unsurprisingly, the most expensive car sold at the 2024 RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction was a Ferrari – a 250 GT SWB California Spider, to be precise.
The 1960 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider is one of the most sought-after classic Ferraris. This stunning example went for $17.05 million.
Chassis no. 1795 GT was the first of the SWB California Spiders produced and was fitted with a race-spec Tipo 168 V12 engine. Only 56 cars were built, and this particular example was even showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in 1960.
This 250 GT SWB California Spider is finished in the original Grigio exterior colour and is Ferrari Classiche Red Book-certified. It was delivered with covered headlights and a removable hardtop. It has the original bodywork, engine, gearbox, rear axle and drivetrain.
