Rolls Royce Dawn: All you need to know
Rolls Royce just launched a breathtaking new product. The all-new Rolls Royce Dawn has been revealed through a novel online press conference. The Dawn is “the most sexiest” Rolls Royce ever built and a true four-seat, super-luxury convertible. It is the most “social” super-luxury there is, according to Rolls Royce CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes.
The Rolls Royce Dawn might seem like a Wraith convertible, but it is so much more than that. For starters, 80 percent of the metal on the Dawn is new. The suspension setup has been completely revised to offer the exquisite ride that Rolls Royce is famous for.
The styling features subtle details that give the new Dawn a spectacular profile. The highly raked windshield is unique to this car. The Dawn was designed to look striking with or without the soft-top roof up. The interior, although quite similar to the Wraith features immaculate craftsmanship and uber-luxurious materials.
The folding fabric roof posed real challenge to designers and engineers. It can be opened or closed in just 22 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/hr. Despite being a soft-top convertible, the new Rolls Royce Dawn is the “quietest super-luxury convertible in the world”.
At the heart of every Rolls Royce is potent V12 engine and the Dawn is no exception. The 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 kicks out 563 bhp and 575 lb-ft of torque at just 1500 rpm as you waft along. A tuned accelerator pedal mapping allows for a 30 percent increase in medium throttle response. Satellite Aided Transmission which debuted on the Wraith will also be available on the new Dawn which includes an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. 0-60 mph is over in 4.9 sec while top speed is limited to 155 mph.
