Porsche Taycan Turbo GT sets new lap records at Road Atlanta & Yas Marina

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has set two new lap records for series production electric cars. Porsche’s flagship EV went around Road Atlanta and the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in record time.

With Patrick Long at the wheel, the Taycan Turbo GT clocked a lap time of 1 min 27.1 seconds at Road Atlanta, beating the previous best time of 1 min 33.8 seconds set by the Taycan Turbo S in 2020.

The lap record at Yas Marina was set during the night. The car was driven by UAE-based GT race driver Ramez Azzam, who recorded a lap time of 2 min 07.2 seconds. The new record has been officially recognized by the Emirates Motorsport Association (EMSO) as the fastest production BEV around Yas Marina’s full GP circuit.

Earlier, the Taycan Turbo GT broke the lap record at the Interlagos F1 Circuit in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The EV completed a lap in 1 min 42.1 seconds with Felipe Nasr at the wheel.

In 2024, The Taycan went around the Shanghai International Circuit in a record time of 2 min 11.2 seconds. During the same year, Lars Kern lapped Laguna Seca in 1 min 27.8 seconds.
