Porsche revives the manual 911 Carrera S; launched at $169,450

Porsche is bringing three pedals back to the 911 Carrera S for the 2027 model year. The German brand has taken this step based on overwhelming customer demand. Available exclusively in North America as both a Coupe and Cabriolet, the new “MT Package” pairs a six-speed manual gearbox with a rear-wheel-drive setup.

Under the hood sits the familiar 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six generating 473 horsepower. However, the MT Package delivers much more than just a transmission swap.

Porsche has loaded the model with high-performance chassis hardware, including rear-axle steering, a PASM Sport suspension with a 10mm lower ride height, and centre-lock wheels. Sourced for the first time on a Carrera S, these wheels shave 17 pounds of unsprung weight, keeping the Coupe’s total curb mass at a lean 3,327 pounds.

Aesthetic upgrades include a SportDesign front fascia, titanium exhaust outlets, a retro-inspired wooden shift knob, and a custom red “S” rear badge.
