A one-off Porsche Carrera GT is headed to the Amelia Island Concours this weekend. It’s called the Carrera GT SC, where ‘SC’ is an acronym for ‘Sport Canepa’.

The Carrera GT Sport Canepa is a restored and slightly modified version of the standard car. The changes are subtle but are intended to improve driveability.

The car has been in the making for months. The car was first stripped down and was meticulously put together over the last 6 months. During this process, it underwent a full restoration, while some stock parts were upgraded.

The Carrera GT has inboard suspension with a pushrod setup. On the SC, the stock springs have been replaced with KW springs and a hydraulic lift system. The infamous ceramic clutch has also been modified, presumably to make the car easier to drive. Then there are other cosmetic and minor modifications that differentiate the SC from a stock Carrera GT.

Recently, Porsche also announced a factory restoration programme for the Carrera GT. It not only allows customers to create their own spec, but also transforms the car into a brand-new machine.
