The all-new BMW M5 will make its global debut on June 26. Ahead of its first public appearance, BMW has released a teaser image that reveals the car’s illuminated kidney grille.
Unlike most modern BMWs, the new M5 doesn’t get an oversized grille. However, it does get illuminated surrounds like the BMW i5. The teaser also shows the updated light signature of the twin-pod LED headlamps.
The new BMW M5 will be available in sedan and estate body styles. It will feature a more sporty design compared to the standard 5 Series, with wider fenders and quad exhausts. The interior is expected to be based on the brand’s latest design philosophy, albeit with subtle sporty touches.
Powering the new M5 will be S68 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid from the XM. The internal combustion engine produces 577 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, while the electric motor has a peak output of 194 hp and 207 lb-ft. The combined output is said to be pegged at 718 hp.
