Mazda MX-5 Spyder and MX-5 Speedster for SEMA 2015

Mazda has taken a leaf out of Porsche design and built an MX-5 Spyder and MX-5 Speedster for SEMA 2015. The latest generation of the Mazda MX-5 keeps true to its roots by being lightweight, front-engine and rear-wheel drive which combined offers a ton of fun on any road and at any speed.

The Mazda MX-5 Spyder is a lightweight concept fitted with a removable soft-top similar to the one on found on the Porsche Boxster Spyder. Yes, that’s the “Cockster” with a hat. It comes fitted with neat 17-inch Yokohama alloys painted in gloss black, while the whole body is painted in a shade of silver.

The Mazda MX-5 Speedster is exactly what you would expect it to be. A super-lightweight sports car with no roof and no windshield. This comes with carbon fiber doors and seats which contribute to an overall weight of just 943 kg. Compared to it, the Spyder weighs in at 1043 kg. Under the bonnet of both the concepts is the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine from the road car.
