Maserati MCXtrema to be showcased at Pebble Beach on August 18

In June last year, Maserati announced a new track car dubbed ‘Project24’. The carmaker has now confirmed that the production version will be called ‘Maserati MCXtrema’ and will be showcased at The Quail on August 18, 2023.

The Maserati MCXtrema is a track-only supercar based on the MC20. The car will feature a heavily reworked exterior with an adjustable rear spoiler and a shark fin. It will have a low-slung front fascia with extractor vents on the hood and a redesigned rear section with LED taillights that look like the Trident logo.

The McXtrema will be powered by the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 as the MC20. However, the track version gets new turbochargers that bump the overall output to 740 hp. The engine is mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox via a racing clutch. Power is sent to the rear axle via a limited-slip self-locking differential. It also features bespoke suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, FIA-approved safety features and race tyres.

Maserati plans to build 62 examples of the MCXtrema track car.
