Lamborghini has no intention of bringing the manual gearbox back to its supercar lineup, despite a renewed interest in stick-shift performance cars lately.
Speaking about the possibility of a manual Lamborghini, Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said the idea is not currently a priority. He added that such cars are mainly aimed at collectors and confirmed that the company has no plans to develop one at present.
“For me, this is something which is not on our priority list, because we have a lot in the pipeline. [The manual gearbox] is mostly for collectibles, and today we don’t have any plans to do so.”
Lamborghini instead has plenty of other projects in the pipeline, including higher-performance versions of its existing models and continued development of internal-combustion engines.
The latest example is the Revuelto SV, unveiled at The Quail during Monterey Car Week. Its powertrain combines a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 with three electric motors, producing 1,065 hp and 1,051 lb-ft of torque.
The company’s last manual-equipped model was the Gallardo, which remained available with a stick shift until 2014.
