The guys at AutoTopNL got a chance to ride along in a Koenigsegg Regera during a high speed run. Take a look a this onboard footage of the Regera accelerating from 0-186 mph without any fuss whatsoever.
The Regera is a unique hypercar. It is powered by a conventional 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which is boosted by three electric motors. The total output is around 1500 hp and 1500 lb-ft of torque. To transfer all that power to the tarmac, it comes with what Koenigsegg calls ‘Direct Drive’. It uses a hydraulic coupling instead of a conventional transmission.
The system enables the Regera to accelerate from 0-249 mph without changing gears. Koenigsegg has put this claim to the test and have even set a new world record in the process. The Regera goes from 0-249 mph and back to zero in a record 33.29 seconds.
